Art begins with inspiration. We all went pumpkin picking this past weekend and were inspired to create art as a way to remember the fun time that we had and the love we have for Fall. We took elements that stood out at the farm: cornfields, towering sunflowers and fall leaves. We used construction paper, organic cherrios and sequins to create our masterpiece. After we were finished, we practiced Math by counting the cherrios that were glued onto our ear of corn.
This is a home school blog of a Southern California family that uses an eclectic approach to learning. We incorporate many different educational philosophies, such as: Charlotte Mason, Waldorf, Classical and a little bit of Unschooling here and there. Join us on our journey of discovery!

Painting with Apples
Apples are a wonderful fall fruit...
When they are cut in half horizontally, the seeds and core are in the shape of a star as shown below.

These apples can be painted and used as stampers in art projects. We thought the apple stamper resembled star shaped Fall leaves.

We looked at some art by Matisse and noticed that he used mosaic methods in his art, so we decided to make mosaic leaves by tearing them out of consruction paper and gluing them to our Fall art.
