Science Lesson 3 Exam

1. Define Biology

Biology--Simply the study of living things.

Biologists just look at and classify living things and see what they evolved from, and see their characteristics.

2. List and describe the 5 characteristics of all living organism.

RESPONSE

If you poke a bear in the eye, it will growl and claw. If you tear a leaf off of a flower, the plant will shrivel up.

MOVEMENT

Animals move because of coordinated messages sent to their methods of propulsiun/muscles.

ENERGY AND FOOD

Both plants and animals strip off the energy from their food. All living things eat, whether absorbing it or mangling it.

REPRODUCTION

All plants and animals reproduce. Plants create seeds, and animals ferilize internal eggs.

REQUIREMENTS AND NEEDS

All plants and animals and microbes and such have to eat to grow/divide.

Animals and plants need air to circulate blood and toxic gases.

3. Non-living things move because of forces such as gravity, heat, and force, but living things move because their "support systems" sends signals to their muscles to move.

4. No. Non-Living things do not have organs or parts to reproduce. If you crack a rock open, the inside is dense sediments.
